Who we are
SubSnipe is a Chrome extension that helps you find relevant Reddit conversations and reply to them manually. It is published by an independent developer. For any privacy question, contact hello@thomasunise.com. This policy describes all user data the extension collects, how it is used and handled, where it is stored, and with whom it is shared.
1. What data we collect
SubSnipe collects the following categories of data, all of which are processed locally in your browser. We (the developer) never receive any of it — we operate no server and have no way to access it.
- Authentication information (Reddit session cookies) — when you log a Reddit account in through Reddit's own login page, the resulting session cookies are captured and stored so the extension can post replies you explicitly approve, on your behalf.
- Authentication information (OpenAI API key, optional) — if you choose to enable AI reply drafting, the API key you enter is collected and stored locally.
- Website content (leads and post content) — public Reddit posts found during scans, along with any reply drafts you generate or write, are stored locally so you can review them.
- User configuration and content you provide — subreddits, target phrases, account names and colors, reply voice, knowledge-base notes and documents you add, scan preferences, and optional proxy configuration (including proxy credentials, if your proxy requires them).
SubSnipe does not collect your browsing history, location, health, financial, or personal communications data, and does not use analytics, tracking, or advertising SDKs. (Our marketing website uses Google Analytics to measure page visits; the extension itself contains no analytics of any kind.)
2. How we use and handle your data
Each category of data above is used for a single purpose, and nothing else:
- Reddit session cookies are used only to perform the actions you initiate — scanning subreddits and posting replies you explicitly approve. They are sent only to Reddit itself, never anywhere else.
- Your OpenAI API key is used only to make requests from your browser directly to OpenAI when you ask the extension to draft a reply.
- Leads and post content are used only to display results in the extension and, if you enable AI drafting, as input for drafting a suggested reply.
- Your settings, knowledge-base content, and proxy configuration are used only to run scans, draft replies in your voice, and route the traffic of accounts you configured through the proxy you chose.
The extension never posts to Reddit automatically — every reply requires your explicit click. No data is used for advertising, profiling, or any purpose unrelated to the extension's single function, and no data is ever sold.
3. How and where your data is stored
All data is stored exclusively on your device, in your browser's extension storage
(chrome.storage.local). It is protected by the same browser sandboxing that
protects the rest of your Chrome profile. We do not store, back up, or mirror any of your
data on any server, because we have none.
Retention and deletion: data is retained locally until you delete it. You can remove individual accounts, leads, knowledge-base items, or your API key from the extension's settings at any time. Uninstalling the extension permanently deletes all of its stored data.
4. How your data is shared, and with whom
We (the developer) never receive your data and therefore never share, sell, rent, or transfer it to anyone. The extension itself transmits data from your browser only to the following parties, only in the situations described, and to no one else:
- Reddit — the extension reads public Reddit posts and, when you click "Approve & Post," submits your reply to Reddit using your own logged-in session. Your use of Reddit is governed by Reddit's own policies.
- OpenAI (only if you enable AI drafting) — the text of a Reddit post, together with your configured voice and knowledge-base content, is sent from your browser to OpenAI to draft a suggested reply, using your own API key. See the OpenAI privacy policy.
- Your proxy provider (only if you configure one) — if you assign a proxy to an account, that account's Reddit traffic is routed through the proxy you chose, which means that provider can see the traffic you routed through it. We do not provide, operate, or have any relationship with your proxy provider.
There are no other recipients of user data. Data is never shared with advertisers, data brokers, analytics providers, or any other third party, and is never sold or used for purposes unrelated to the extension's single function.
Referral links
Some links in the extension and on our website are referral links, meaning we may earn a commission if you sign up for a third-party service through them. This has no effect on what you pay and involves no sharing of your data by us.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we will update this page and the date at the top. Material changes will be noted in the extension's update notes.
